There's a demonstrable love for the lore - Giger's space jockey pops up in the background, as does the derelict alien ship on LV-426. Yet if some of the environments feel a little samey, the attention to detail is remarkable. The efficiency of the design is reflected in the thrifty reuse of assets: repeat visits to the Sulaco with fresh tools gradually open up more of this intricate maze. Respawning enemies, so often an irritation, are an essential part of Infestation's design: a reminder that, no matter where you are, you can't afford to get complacent. Yet Wayforward understands that reward must go hand-in-hand with risk, with such wanderings leaving you further from both your destination and any save points. Spot a hatch just begging to be blown open with a grenade and several minutes later, you might have a more powerful flamethrower. Weapon upgrades, frequently tucked away in the furthest reaches of the map, also encourage thorough exploration. There are no voice-overs whatsoever in the game, so expect to read conversations instead of listening to them.Great Variety of WeaponsTaking down the Xenomorphs will be hard especially without a weapon that is powerful enough.Potential replacements are scattered across the labyrinthine levels, but it's a finite supply, and many marines require a lengthy trek through alien-infested crawlspaces and corridors to reach. Each of them has their own personality and takes on what your Commanding Officer will tell you. Whenever you’re low on health or don’t have any ammunition, it’s always best to go to the safe haven save point to replenish them all. Each of the characters that you get to recruit, as well as the starting four characters, all have quirky conversation options that will give fans a quick laugh. Once they’re in your party, it’s best to pay attention to their health bar and the ammunition they have. There are a decent amount of survivors in the ship that can join you whenever someone permanently dies in your party. When the character you’re using dies, they die completely and the only way to have other hidden characters in the game aid you is to find them inside the Sulaco. Out of those four starting Colonial Marines, they will most likely die at some point. Inspired by these two classic games, the levels have been designed as various parts of the ship, and you can only get to a certain point unless you track down a particular item needed to proceed further through the Sulaco. Expect to see familiar weapons, gear, and environments that you see in the game from the original Aliens film.Metroidvania StyleIf you love the classic 2D side-scrolling Metroid or Castlevania games, then expect to get hooked on Aliens Infestation. Infestation will have some of the movies’ environments that will give a nostalgic feeling to die-hard fans. During the course of your investigation, you’ll learn that the Xenomorphs killed most of the ship’s crew and it’s your job, along with the other Colonial Marines, to find survivors and eliminate the threat.Even for a DS game, Aliens Infestation offers something for real fans of the franchise. As a Colonial Marine, you are sent to investigate the ship and find out what really happened to its crew. Infestation takes place after the events of James Cameron’s Aliens on the USS Sulaco. HOTStory lives up to the Aliens FranchiseThe story in the Aliens franchise has always been good. Designed by comic book artist Chris Bachalo, each custom-upgradable recruit has a distinct personality, and different dialog develops depending on the characters chosen for each mission.Developed by WayForward and Gearbox alongside 2012's Colonial Marines adventures for consoles and home computers, Infestation follows a broader storyline that explores the reaches of the Aliens universe, including levels set in the U.S.S. Some levels have the player racing to rescue captured marines, in real time, before they are implanted with alien offspring. Players control Colonial Marine characters that blast and dash through side-scrolling levels, wielding fan-familiar weapons such as the flamethrower, pulse rifle, and 'smart gun.' Although the action often erupts with fast-paced firefights, the game's dark, twisted environments provoke tense exploration and chaotic ambushes.Throughout the adventure, players have the opportunity to recruit a team of as many as 20 Colonial Marine characters, and they may choose which to use on each mission. Aliens: Infestation is a run-and-gun platform shooter that pits a team of deep-space marines against vicious Xenomorph enemies, across a variety of deadly locations inspired by the film series.
